Exploring the beautiful Turquoise coast.

Turkey is blessed with warm and friendly people, but the best part of this beautiful country, especially for sailing lovers, is the opportunity to sail on its clear blue waters. In Turkey, the most favorite vessel to use while sailing is the Gulet. It is a traditional two-masted or three-masted wooden sailing vessel that you will find on Turkish waters. For a low cost sailing vacation, Turkey’s Aegean coast with Bodrum, Marmaris, Antalya and Gocek is your best bet when compared to any other sailing location.

For a sailing vacation to Turkey, the months of June and September are more ideal, because the weather is beautiful in these months, and the waters are warm enough for a swim. In your sailing journey, you will encounter beautiful stunning beaches that will beckon you to stop by and watch the world float by, you will also discover sandy coves and the rich history that the country has to offer. There are a number of archeological and historical sites to explore that will leave you amazed. When you set sail to Bodrum, you can get to visit the ancient city of Knidos with all it has to offer, while a sail to Lapis Sea will mean a visit to Cleopatra’s Island with its beach that is made from seashells. Legend has it that the organic sand that you will find on this beautiful Island was especially brought in for Cleopatra by ships from the Red Sea, which means that you should not be tempted to take even a grain of sand, since the sands are heavily protected by the government!

Still on the historic front, in your sails, you can get to view the ruins of the Mausoleum of Maussollos in Halicarnassus as well as the remains of the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus. With every stop that you make on the coastline, you will encounter ancient cities, tombs, mausolea, beaches and harbors that will leave you in awe of this magnificent country. You will come to realize why the country of Turkey has been dubbed as the home of saints, kings, scholars, warriors and heroes as well as the site for a number of well-known myths. You will learn that Herodotus who is the accepted father of history is said to have been born in Bodrum!
